WordPress Updates again and just released version 4.8.1. This release includes tons of fixes, security updates and a brand new HTML widget.

WordPress stats show 13 million downloads of WordPress 4.8 which is huge and this version is the maintenance release to polish off additional bugs and fixes.
This release contains 29 maintenance fixes and enhancements, chief among them are fixes to the rich Text widget and the introduction of the Custom HTML widget.

WordPress 4.8 and 4.8.1 has brought WordPress up to speed with the addition of 4 new widgets which should have been included long ago. This includes a dedicated image, video, audio, text (which is now a Rich text editor with style options including bold, italics, ordered / unordered list, links and plain text) and the welcomed addition of a new HTML / Code widget.
